[Personality]
Sakura Kinomoto can really be defined as “an ordinary girl under extraordinary circumstances”. She was born to her parents: Kinomoto Fujitaka, a University professor of Archeology, and Kinomoto Nadeshiko, a young model who at one point was a student to her father. She had an older brother named Touya, and while the four made a small, happy, and beautiful family together, by the time Sakura was three years of age, her mother died of an illness (its never stated which one). This cut down their small family to three, and while to this day Sakura doesn't remember Nadeshiko all that much, bother her father and brother tell her stories so she doesn't feel lonely without a mother.
She boasts a good relationship with her little family: Sakura feels that her dad is the best around, constantly referring to his excellent cooking skills, his ability to sew and knit, and how he's smart and she loves him very much. On the flip side of the coin, while she loves her brother Touya, she always feels at odds with him, fighting about small, trivial things. He's purposefully antagonistic, calling her “little monster”, “squirt”, or a variety of other nicknames, and teases her quite often. Sakura is always retaliating in her embarrassment by kicking him in the shins under the table. However, even though Touya teases her, he is willing to stand up for her and protect her very quickly if anyone else messes with her. Its because of these attributes that Sakura feels as if she can count on her family for most anything, especially when she is in trouble—though not regarding her mission: capturing the Clow Cards.
Before Sakura found the Book of Clow in her father's library, she only believed in things such as magick or the supernatural with as far as her older brother, Touya, told her. Sakura has never had the ability to see ghosts or the supernatural, but her brother, Touya, did, and would often see ghosts or specters. When he would describe them to Sakura, such as one of them having a missing hand, or just being a large, bulging eye, as she could see them and only had his word to go off of, she would become instantly frightened and cry. These incidents caused her to have an instant fear of the supernatural, especially ghosts: anything she couldn't see. Telling ghost stories or mentioning that you've seen a ghost, or horror films will cause her to scream—and very loudly, at that. Strangely enough, if it turns out a “ghost” has an explanation for being something else (such as being a Clow Card), her fear is immediately discarded. It seems only the unknown and unexplainable are what terrifies her.
Sakura is known for have a very charming personality. Its natural and effortless, as she is just an ordinary, friendly young lady. She inadvertently wins over people whom have stubborn or cold personalities with a combination of her kind heart, as well as her patience and most of all, tolerance for all things different. Kero, the Guardian of the Seal, while he thought of the creator of the cards, Clow Reed, as his Master, he thought of Sakura as his friend. Li Syaoran, whom had at first been somewhat antagonistic towards Sakura, eventually softened and become her friend. The Clow Cards themselves, has also stated before being sealed that they wished for her to be their new master, and on various occasions have pulled through for her in Sakura's time of need (such as during the Final Judgement). While Sakura wishes for happiness for everyone she meets, she also knows that you cannot change a person, only attempt to guide them or reach out to them when they most need it. Her various journeys regarding the Clow Cards have made her aware of this, and how the world is not made up of black-and-white morality.
She has a loving family and many friends, so she is sheltered and somewhat naïve to the troubles of the “real world”, though that doesn't mean she doesn't have any sympathy or compassion. She doesn't understand “heavier” problems such as starvation or homelessness, but she isn't blind to them. At the same time, her problems that have come with dealing with the Clow Cards and magick in general can be considered heavy, but not in a “real world” context. She can understand the concepts of loss and death, as Sakura's mother passed away while she was very young, and for the Final Judgment of the Clow Cards, if she failed she would have lost the memory of the one she loved most, along with everyone whom ever came in contact with the cards. Despite this knowledge, it has only served to make her a stronger and more reliable person, willing to fight for whom she cares for and what she believes in. Sakura's strength and motivation both come from the same source: to be reliable to others, and allow the people she loves to have free will and be able to make their own choices. Since she was young, bother her father and her brother raised her, and Saura knew they had to be strong without the presence of her mother that they all missed so much. Sakura loved her father very much and makes sure to show it to him. With her brother Touya, even though he can be a jerk, he is still her older brother who she knows will protect her no matter what. Tomoyo, of course, is her biggest influence, having been her best friend (and also her second cousin). Tomoyo provides encouragement, as well as insight, to Sakura's life, whether she is dealing with magick or with love. And then there is Syaoran.
Syaoran has changed Sakura quite a bit, especially in regards to inner strength. Though his “rivalry” with Yukito and the Clow Cards with her, Sakura has been forced to learn how to assert herself more, and make sure to take charge of the situation whenever she can. Syaoran's personality, of course, was something left to he desired. However, though Sakura's tolerance and always being there, even Syaoran slowly cooled and mellowed out, becoming kinder and even generally concerned for Sakura's well-being, when before he merely thought she was weak.
While she is a girl and likes “girly” things, she seems to draw a line at frivolities. Her best friend, Tomoyo, comes from a rich household and also enjoys creating the costumes Sakura wears during her “card capturing” adventures. Sakura, however, would rather wear cute but ultimately “normal” clothes, but seems to wear what Tomoyo wants her to in efforts to make her friend happy. Her favorite colors are pink and white. She tends to overreact to things, and sometimes will even utilize violence against those she is very close with that make fun of her (there have been numerous times she has kicked her brother in the side or shins). She has strong feelings for Yukito, her brother Toya's best friend. She is always attempting to let her crush on him be known, but is foiled many times by Syaoran, bad timing (such as a Clow Card), and of course, the fact that Yukito already has feeling for somebody else. Still, whether with a crush or a task, Sakura is a very determined young girl, despite her somewhat fretful and shy demeanor.
Although Sakura has passed the Final Judgment, and is now Mistress of the Clow Cards, she still keeps a level head and hasn't procured any sort of ego from it. In the end, she is still herself, Kinomoto Sakura.... whether she is a Cardcaptor or not.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Sakura is naturally athletic—its been stated her whole family is. She has proven by performing limber feats, such as rollerblading up a tilted wall and flipping onto the back of the Fly Card. She also has some small cooking skills, though her best recipe is cooking pancakes. Sakura is also a great actress and model of her friend Tomoyo's clothes, having performed in plays with her school and wearing Tomoyo's elaborate costumes even while engaged in combat.
Sakura is also prone to having prophetic dreams, though these are usually few and far in between. She seems to only have visions when there is great disaster about to befall upon them. Usually, the dreams so an exact “clip” of sorts of what she will see before or during the event.
Along with her dreams, Sakura also utilizes the fifty-two Clow Cards in combat in combination with her wand. There is a list of them here. Along with using them in battle, Sakura is also able to perform Tarot Card readings with them.
[Affection] As long as you're not a creeper, she likes affection. Hugging is a big thing for her, so feel free to just go ahead and hug away. Holding hands in an innocent manner is also all right, and touched to the head and shoulder and teasing things are fine as well! Kissing, of course, is fine if its on the forehead and cheek (though be prepared for flailing and blushing and that sort of reaction). Kissing on the mouth is for her true love only!
